Jeff attended Southwest Dekalb High School and played on the 1972 State Championship football team under Coach Dewey Alverson. He graduated from there in 1975 and attended Furman University, where he played for Art Baker and Dick Sheridan. At Furman, he played on the first team to win the Southern Conference championship in school history in 1978. He received his BA in Health and Physical Education, Political Science from Furman in 1979. In 1985 he received his Masters of Education Health and Physical Education from Georgia College in addition to Educational Leadership (Administration and Supervision) in 1991. From 1979-85 Jeff was an HPE teacher, Head Tennis Coach, and an Assistant coach in Football and Baseball at Newton Co. HS in Covington.
From there he went to Rockdale Co. High School in Conyers as a teacher (American Gov’t and Civics) and Assistant football coach, 1985. In 1986 he went to Clarke Central High School in Athens as a teacher (Political Science/Economics) and Assistant football coach under the legendary Coach Billy Henderson. In 1987 he returned to Rockdale Co. High School to become Athletic Director and Head Football coach. In 1991 Jeff went to Winder-Barrow High School as Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant football coach under Coach Phil Jones. Jeff took over as Athletic Director and Head Football coach at Winder-Barrow in 1997. In 2000, Jeff stepped away from coaching and into the role as full time Athletic Director in addition to being an Assistant Principal. He served in this capacity until he retired from public education in 2008.
Jeff came out of retirement in 2009 to work as Director of Equipment Operations at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina and then returned to coaching, teaching and athletic administration for The St. Francis School in Alpharetta, where he is developing their new football program.Jeff holds professional certifications in teaching and Athletic Administration:Educational Leadership Health and Physical Education Political Science NIAAA Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) 2004 NIAAA Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) 2006.
