Nathan Turner was named the District Athletic Director for Forsyth County Schools in March of 2016, where he oversees the athletics and activities for Forsyth County’s 37 schools. In his role, he works with the administration of each school to coordinate all aspects of day to day operations.
Nathan is a graduate of the University of Georgia and joined North Forsyth HS as a teacher in 1999. Over the next 17 years, he would teach and coach football, baseball, wrestling, and golf. In 2006 Turner became assistant AD at North Forsyth and eventually took over the AD role in 2010. Nathan has become very involved in his professional organizations such as the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). In 2016 Nathan was named All Classification Georgia Athletic Director of the Year and received the National Distinguished Service Award. Nathan is a member of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) executive committee, and in March 2017 he was elected as president of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association. In 2018 Nathan was chosen as the Georgia (GADA) recipient of the Frank Kovaleski award for promoting a comprehensive athletic program.
Coach Turner served the GADA as President for two years between 2017 and 2019. Under Nathan’s watch the GADA reach records high’s as the organization grew. The GADA experienced significant growth and received national accreditation for that. The GADA set new standards with professional development and LTI Training; where we now have more professionally trained athletic directors with professional certifications in RAA, CAA, and CMAA than ever before. In 2019 Coach Turner received the NIAAA State Award of Merit for his outstanding leadership in interscholastic athletic administration.
Turner and his wife, Jennifer have a son and daughter, Brayden and Emma Grace; they live in the Coal Mountain Community of Forsyth County.
