While serving as the Director of Athletics at Greater Atlanta Christian School (GAC) for 33 years, Tim Vick has served on the cutting edge of many innovative projects affecting the profession of Athletic Administration. Some of these projects include the formation of a School Hall of Fame, the creation of a school trademark program, an athletic training center, and CPR/AED program and the construction of an all-purpose arena. Although the many projects on his campus have kept him busy, Vick has been active as a member of several professional organizations on the local, state and national level.
He has been a member of the NIAAA for 33 years. On the State level, he has been a member of the GADA and currently is a member of the Board of Directors. In 2009, Dr. Vick served as the President of the GADA. He has been the coordinator for the Director’s Cup for 12 years and has also taught LTC 501, 508, and 515 at the State Conference.In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, Vick has been named Region Coach of the Year on 14 occasions and State Coach of the Year three times. Vick was also named Region Athletic Director of the Year in 1997, 1991, and 2005. He was also named classification Athletic Director of the Year in 1997 and State Athletic Director of the Year in 2006.
Dr. Vick grew up in Valdosta, Georgia and graduated from Georgia Christian School. At the end of his senior year, he was selected to the Georgia High School Association’s South All-Star basketball team and was chosen as co-captain of that team. Earning a four-year basketball scholarship to Harding University, he graduated with a B.A. in Physical Education and was immediately employed by GAC.Dr. Vick and his wife, Kim have three children: Craig (Carrie), Kelsey (Jimmy), and Carolina. They have two grandchildren (Jack and Lucy).
