For more than 40 years, Bill Holleman has been a teacher, coach, and athletic administrator. The Durham, North Carolina native graduated from Campbell College where he played and was named to the All-Decade (60’s) Team in soccer. In 1969, Holleman became one of the first male teachers and coaches to join the Ravenscroft School faculty in Raleigh, N.C. While at Revenscroft, he taught social stud- ies, coached soccer, was the Head of the PE Department, and became Athletic Director in 1977. During his tenure at Revenscroft, he won two state championships.
In 1979, Holleman joined the staff of the Lovett School as varsity soccer coach and Athletic Director. He coordinated and supervised 60 interscholastic teams in 15 sports. Coach Holleman remained at Lovett for 14 years until he was asked to assist with the 1994 World Cup USA. Later, he would become President of the Birmingham Olympic Soccer Organizing Committee, which hosted 11 pre-medal matches of the 1996 Olympic soccer competition. After the 1996 Olympics, Holleman returned to Atlanta and became head soccer coach and Athletic Director at Shiloh High School.
In 2002, he won the state soccer championship and was named National Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Association of America. As an Athletic Administrator, Holleman has been active on both the state and national levels. At the state level, he has served on the board of the GACA for six years and was the State Soccer Tournament Director and coordinator for 22 years. Nationally, he has held every elected office of the National Soccer Coaches Association and was President for two years. Holleman has earned his CAA and CMAA certifications and was named the All-Classification Athletic Director of the Year in 1990.
