GADA Partners with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is proud to team up with the Georgia Athletic Director’s Association as a corporate sponsor. The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Medicine Program is one of the largest programs in the country dedicated to helping young athletes stay healthy and excel in their sports. As one of the largest and most experienced practices in the region, we use a family-focused approach to deliver care through education and support for patients.

Our team provides comprehensive services for high school, adolescent, and elite teen athletes by offering a full range of care from diagnosis and treatment, to surgery, rehabilitation, and preventive care. Instead of treating only the symptoms, we treat and help manage the injury or medical condition. Many of those injuries or illnesses are unique to children, adolescents and teens and require specialized treatment. All athletes who come to Children’s receive treatment that is personalized based on their needs, emotional state, and the sports they play to make sure they heal properly.

The Children’s sports medicine staff connects young athletes to the support of a healthcare system that understands what it takes to help athletes recover from injuries and excel in sports. In addition, the sports medicine team works closely with Children’s specialists in other clinical areas, such as cardiology and pulmonology, to make the right referral for your athlete. Our patients have direct access to a multidisciplinary team of professionals who specialize in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Children’s works with individual athletic programs at schools and clubs throughout metro Atlanta. We are available to coaches and their staff at any time to answer questions regarding care or prevention of sports-related injuries.

In addition to providing athletic training coverage, our sports medicine team is actively involved in the Atlanta youth sports community and the local community as a whole, not just schools or clubs. The sports medicine staff leads coaches’ workshops throughout the year at metro Atlanta schools and other community entities, as well as to physician practices. Each year, we invite current and future high school student athletic trainers to attend a workshop where participants gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge.

Our sports physical therapists and athletic trainers are licensed healthcare specialists whose goals are to help young athletes decrease pain, restore or improve movement, and return to play safely. Our team develops sport-specific treatment plans and rehabilitation programs using advanced equipment and can help improve sports performance. Care plans include techniques to manage and reduce pain, improve function for everyday activity, and return young athletes to their sports.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is proud to partner with the Georgia Athletic Directors Association, an association that focuses on the overall well-being of an athlete. Together, we are helping student athletes excel at what they do best.
