GADA Annual Awards
Each year the GADA honors athletic leaders from across the state by recognizing the Athletic Director’s of the Year as named by each region as well as the overall classification winners. Additionally, awards are given to the State Athletic Directors of the Year for the GHSA, Middle School and GIAA categories. In addition to the awards recognized by the NIAAA the GADA awards the Bob Stinchcomb Athletic Leadership Award.
GADA Bob Stinchcomb Athletic Leadership Award
Honors a distinguished Georgia Athletic Director for his/her steadfast commitment to developing the role of athletic administrator across the state. This prestigious award is given in memory of one of the great athletic administrator pioneers in Georgia, Dr. Bob Stinchcomb. The GADA recognizes the recipient of this award as one who has demonstrated exceptional devotion to educating athletic administrators and has contributed extraordinary leadership among all Georgia athletic directors.
The Frances Bryan Woman in Athletics Award
Frances Hale Bryan served 40 years with Atlanta Public Schools as a coach of multiple sports before transitioning into the role of coordinator of health, physical education, intramurals and girls’ sports. In 1976, she was appointed to the role of coordinator of physical education and athletics for the Atlanta school system. During her time in APS, she helped develop curriculums for all students and championed girls’ sports across the state up until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Bryan’s career and accomplishments were honored by the GADA in 2011 when she was named to the Hall of Fame.
This prestigious award honors one of the great female trailblazers in Georgia High School Athletic Administration. The GADA recognizes the female recipient of this award as one who embodies leadership, professionalism and champions for opportunities of inclusivity within their school, their community and beyond.
Middle School Athletic Director of the Year
The Middle School Athletic Director of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and impact in managing and promoting middle school athletic programs. This award honors an athletic director who goes above and beyond to foster student-athlete development, support coaches, and elevate the role of athletics in shaping well-rounded individuals.
The recipient of this award exemplifies what it means to be a servant-leader in the field of middle school athletics. Through their efforts, they inspire a love for sports, build character in young athletes, and create programs that leave a lasting legacy on their school and community.
